Aviawest Cycling Society
The Aviawest Cycling Society is a not-for-profit society to support young competitive
cyclists. The vision for the Aviawest Cycling Society is to provide the greater Victoria
cycling community, in particular young cyclists, with a terrific opportunity to learn and
develop future World Champions. Attracting the best riders in the country will help local
Victoria athletes become even faster, more professional, and better experienced to take
on the world.
Founder Jim Pearson has been a strong supporter of athletic development over the past
decade. His passion for sport and belief in the positive society dedicated to benefits of
cycling has manifested itself through the society and also through the Aviawest Cycling
Club, a local recreational cycling group. He currently serves as CEO of Aviawest,
which has more than 250 employees in Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo and Nanoose
Bay BC.
Proceeds from the revenue of the Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series will be
managed by the Aviawest Cycling Society for the purpose of providing financial grants
to cycling development projects and programs.
The Society is also partnered with Steve Lund, who is a Level 4 NCCP coach and
founder of the Victoria Cycling Academy and International Cycling Coaches. Steve
has been coaching full time since 1994 and has since coached many of his athletes to
Olympic, World, Pan American and National Championship Gold Medals.
